It's Not Complicated

Lou Holtz's three rules for coaching

I’m travelling this week, so this is a shorter post than normal. But that feels right given Lou Holtz thinks we make things too complicated anyway.

Holtz is best known for his eleven-season run with Notre Dame, which turned around the iconic team and led to the Irish winning their last national championship in 1988.

But he also led turnaround projects at smaller schools William & Mary, NC State, Arkansas, Minnesota, and South Carolina across his 35-year coaching career.

And it was at William & Mary where he developed his ‘3 Rules of Coaching’:

1 — Do what’s right

2 — Do the best you can

3 — Show people you care

How can you live by Lou Holtz’s rules this week?
